FAQs How much cleaner is RNG than other fuels? The beauty of RNG is that it reduces carbon on two fronts: it captures harmful methane emissions at the source, preventing damage to the atmosphere, and it eliminates emissions by replacing diesel fuel. That’s why it’s able to achieve such a low carbon intensity rating. According to the California Air Resources Board (CARB), depending on the source of the RNG, the RNG emissions profile can range from a 70% to a 300% reduction when compared to gasoline and diesel. Where does your RNG come from? We work with livestock farms and landfills to turn their methane emissions into ultraclean vehicle fuel. How does Redeem get from Clean Energy’s processing plants to its LNG plants and CNG and LNG fueling stations? After going through a cleaning process, biomethane is injected into the nation’s natural gas grid, and transported to Clean Energy’s fueling infrastructure. The biomethane is then compressed or liquefied and sold as Redeem vehicle fuel. In effect, the process is equivalent to depositing $100 at an ATM in New York and withdrawing it the next day at an ATM in California. -- Is carbon-negative RNG available?
